Lace up your boots, put your backpack, it’s time for a February recap! This month was a month of pruning, redirection, and correction. Which I am so grateful for because where it was once foggy, I can now clearly see.

Y’all! For the shortest month of the year, February sure was long! I was going through my yearly planning notes I wrote in January, and I was reminded that I asked God to kill the things of my flesh. Those things being bad stewardship, shopping addiction, laziness, gluttony, lust of money, masturbation, and WHEW! Kill He did! But y’all before a harvest can happen, death must occur, and this month I literally felt like I was dying and being made new in the best way.

I couldn’t even share any of my favorite products from this month because your girl has not been shopping! Every time I tried to shop, I would be stopped by the Holy Spirit in one way or another. Either He would remind me that I wasn’t supposed to be shopping through convictions, I would just not be interested in buying any of the things I looked at, or He would literally not let my card go through (happened too many times lol). Like okay Lord, I hear you. You got it!

Even though I wasn’t shopping, I was listening! Now honestly, I was listening to many of the same songs over and over again but I included some of my favs in the graphic above!

Starting from top left, I discovered this playlist called “Holy Flow Tropic” on Spotify and I am so happy I did! It includes some Christian R&B and Rap music but with an Afrobeats/Caribbean feel. One of my fav songs on the playlist is “Go Der” by Elikem Kofi. Now he starts the song by literally speaking in tongues and I literally had to do a double take when I first listened to it in the car lol! My only critique is that the song is sooo short, like why the best songs gotta be like 2 minutes long. Next is my girl Lauryn Hill. Now there will literally never be a month that I don’t listen to Lauryn, she’s one of my favorite artists of all time and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is legendary! Definitely top 10 album of all time in my opinion. Next is “Lace Up Your Boots” by Circuit Rider Music. If you haven’t heard this song yet go and listen now! Circuit Rider Music has other bangers like No One Like the Lord and Dance Like David. If you’re looking for Christian music to get you hype in the spirit, they are the ones to listen too!

On the bottom left is “Give me Oil” by Sewa and in the middle is “We Hail You” by Gap Worship. These two songs have been on repeat since January! They’re such a beautiful worship songs. Next to Give me Oil is “No Me Without You” by Dunsin Oyekan. This song is what I put on when I need a reminder of what the Lord did for me. He endured the cross for my sake, and so there will be no me without Him. Last but not least are my girls Aly and AJ. Now if you grew up with Disney Channel in the early 2000s you are no stranger to the sister duo, but you don’t know who they are…you’re missing out! I started listening to “No One” after finding out about the passing of the lead actress from one of my favorite childhood movies “Ice Princess.” The song “No one” went mini-viral on TikTok after people began posting about the movie and remembering the actress. Listening to this song brought back so much nostalgia from my childhood and honestly made me a little emotional, just remembering simpler times lol.

This month I decided to do a reading challenge for Black History month. My goal was to read 5 books, all by Black authors. Unfortunately, I only read 3, but 3 is always better than 1. My favorite was “The Fishermen” by Chigozie Obioma. Honestly, this story made me so sad because the ending was gut-wrenching. But it also opened by eyes to how the lies of both man and the enemy can infiltrate our minds and change the course of our lives. If you’re into African fiction books, I definitely recommend this one.

I started off this month in my workout bag! I was doing the 75 soft and I was sooooo committed! I was working out every day, except Sunday because that’s my Sabbath! Then…I got sick…dun dun dunnnnnnn! I am pretty sure I got sick from someone in my work office, and unfortunately I went into work so many days in February I don’t even know who or when I contracted the sickness. But nevertheless, even though I may not have worked out, I did eat well! Like I said earlier, I was not shopping during February and this trickled into not eating out too! I cooked so much at home, I know my family, my bank account, and my stomach were so proud of me 🙂

If you made it this far, you’re a real one! I love you! Thank you so much for indulging in me and hearing about my February! I pray March is even more fruitful!

How was your February?
